House rebuilding / interior design

Biscay, Spain

Originally built in 1880, this house has been given a new life after being demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. Throughout the reconstruction, the original materials were carefully incorporated into a contemporary, functional design, preserving the rustic charm and timeless character that have defined the house for more than a century.

The design process also included custom interior architecture, bespoke furniture, spatial planning and material selection, resulting in a home that feels both timeless and highly functional. Architectural drawings and construction photographs illustrate the transformation from the rebuilding phase to the finished residence, highlighting the care taken throughout the entire process.

The result is a contemporary home that honours its past, where craftsmanship, sustainability and modern design come together to give new life to a house that has stood for more than a century.

The project combines traditional Basque architecture with a clean, contemporary interior. Exposed timber beams, natural stone and handcrafted wooden elements coexist with open-plan spaces, minimalist furnishings and abundant natural light, creating a balance between heritage and modern functionality.
