A través del barro, Mar de Dios se mueve entre el terreno de lo funcional al de lo meramente contemplativo. Es por ello que entre sus piezas podemos encontrar objetos de diseño como jarrones y lámparas, hasta objetos puramente escultóricos. En por ello, y por primera vez, que en la exposición incluirá y combinará ambas vertientes. Quienes se acerquen hasta el espacio podrán recorrer una muestra que se divide entre estas dos pasiones de la artista: el arte y el diseño.

En BARATZEAN (en euskera, en la huerta), nos acercaremos a este universo de objetos de la artista que fluctúan entre las ya mencionadas esferas, con el factor común de la matérico: la cerámica. Mar de Dios volverá a dejar las peanas de lado, un statement y una oda a esta disciplina, a estas piezas que emergen de la tierra (literal y figuradamente). Baratzean también pretende ser un acercamiento a lo lúdico que tiene el propio proceso de trabajar con el barro. Evocar un lugar donde crecen y se enraízan posibles seres y herramientas.

Mar de Dios (1992) nace y reside en Bilbao. Formada en la facultad de Bellas Artes de la UPV/ EHU, se especializa en el Máster de Cerámica, cursando el año anterior el Máster de Investigación en Arte en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Dentro de su trayectoria en la cerámica destacan sus tres exposiciones en solitario: Still (Sala de Cultura de Etxebarri), Kata (Galería Aldama Fabre en Bilbao), y Balizko en Hernani Kalea 21, Donostia (ambas en 2021), entre un amplio número de exposiciones colectivas.
Actualmente es doctoranda en el Programa de Doctorado en Arte Contemporáneo en la Universidad del País Vasco, colabora como diseñadora con el estudio de interiorismo, arquitectura y diseño Imatra, y se encuentra preparando su primera publicación de artista que prevé que saldrá a la luz a finales de este año. 

Through clay, Mar de Dios moves between the terrain of the functional and the merely contemplative. That is why among her pieces we can find design objects such as vases and lamps, to purely sculptural objects. It is for this reason, and for the first time, that the exhibition will include and combine both aspects. Those who come to the space will be able to visit an exhibition that is divided between these two passions of the artist: art and design.

In BARATZEAN (in Basque, in the orchard), we will approach this universe of objects by the artist that fluctuate between the aforementioned spheres, with the common factor of the material: ceramics. Mar de Dios will once again leave the pedestals aside, a statement and an ode to this discipline, to these pieces that emerge from the earth (literally and figuratively). Baratzean also aims to be an approach to the playfulness of the process of working with clay. Evoking a place where possible beings and tools grow and take root.

Mar de Dios (1992) was born and lives in Bilbao. Trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UPV / EHU, she specializes in the Master of Ceramics, studying the previous year the Master of Research in Art at the Complutense University of Madrid.

Within her trajectory in ceramics, her three solo exhibitions stand out: Still (Sala de Cultura de Etxebarri), Kata (Aldama Fabre Gallery in Bilbao), and Balizko in Hernani Kalea 21, Donostia (both in 2021), among a large number of group exhibitions. 

She is currently a doctoral student in the PhD Program in Contemporary Art at the University of the Basque Country, collaborates as a designer with the interior design, architecture and design studio Imatra, and is preparing her first artist’s publication, which she expects to be released later this year.
